What is the Soluto Metro app?

The Soluto Metro app for Windows 8 is an application that lets you remotely help friends, family and colleagues with their PCs, and get more out of your own PCs too. Soluto works on PCs running Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Now with the launch of Windows 8, Soluto will support the Windows 8 operating system too. The Soluto app can be downloaded for free from the Windows Store, starting on February 29, 2012. Just like the Soluto web service , the Soluto app can be used to securely and remotely manage up to 5PCs for free.

What are Metro Style Apps?

Metro style apps are applications designed for Microsoft Windows 8 tablets, laptops, and desktop PCs. The apps are designed for use on interactive touch-screen interfaces, and can also be used with a keyboard and mouse.

An innovative feature of Metro style apps is that they can communicate with each other in Windows 8. For example, a photo in one app can be shared through a separate social networking app without having to exit the first app. In addition, utilizing Windows Live SkyDrive and Live ID, apps are synced across any Windows 8 device associated with that Live ID account so you will never be without your apps, files, or user profile.

How Does the Soluto App Work?

When you open the Soluto app , you can register for a new Soluto account, or log in with Facebook Connect or an existing Soluto account. Once you sign in you’ll see the PCs that you manage on the Dashboard. If you’re new to Soluto, you can click on “Add Someone” to invite others to Soluto so that you can help them with their PC from anywhere.

To check out what’s happening with a PC you manage, select a PC icon or avatar from the dashboard to view the PC overview and see the Hardware and Apps on the PC.

PC Overview: This section includes information such as the PC model, the operating system, and default browser.

Hardware: Here you’ll see information about the CPU, RAM, Mainboard, and Graphics. Also, Soluto displays information about the Hard Drives, including storage capacity, available space, and whether the hard drive is fragmented. If a hard drive is fragmented, Soluto lets you remotely defrag the hard drive to free up space and improve PC performance.

Apps: In this section, you’ll see available updates for apps installed on the PC and a selection of apps that can be remotely installed on the PC. By tapping an application, you can see information about the application and can install or update the application one tap. When you choose to install or update an application, it will happen in the background at the right time without disturbing the PC user.

With Soluto, you can help improve PC performance even if the PC is turned off or in another country, and the people being helped don’t need to do anything.

Soluto is safe and secure. Soluto can’t see personal files, desktop, or browser history, just the anonymous technical details about the PC’s performance.
