Privacy Policy

Soluto is committed to your privacy and the confidentiality of your data. This Privacy Policy was created to explain Soluto’s information practices to you (“You”) in connection with your use of Soluto’s website (“Site”), software ("Software") and services ("Services"). This Privacy Policy forms an integral part of any applicable Terms of Use and End User License Agreements and should be read in conjunction with them.

I. Introduction

For the purpose of this Policy:

  • “Personal Information” means your name, email address, telephone number, picture, or any other information that may be used to identify You as an individual.
  • “Anonymous Information” means technical information from your computer which does not enable identification of You as an individual user.
  • “Supporter” means someone who uses the Soluto Service to provide PC support to another user.
  • “Supportee” means someone who receives PC support from a Supporter through the Soluto Service.

II. How Soluto Collects and Uses Your Personal Information

This section is designed to provide You with information on how we collect and store your Personal Information.

You do not need to provide any Personal Information to Soluto in order to have access to our Site. However, in certain cases, You will be required to create a profile on our Site if You wish to interact with the site, such as in the following ways:

  • Making contributions to the Soluto Wiki;
  • Posting in Soluto’s support forums; and
  • Using Soluto’s Service to provide support to another user.

If You create a profile, certain information by default will be viewable by the public (“Public Profile Information”). Certain other information will only be viewable by users who You support using Soluto’s Service (“Limited Profile Information”). Certain profile information will only be viewable by You (“Private Profile Information”). Examples of these three categories of information:

  • Public Profile Information: Your profile nickname, your photo and “about me” information. These portions of your profile will be viewable to the public. Any contributions You make to the Soluto Wiki and any of your posts in Soluto’s support forums will be linked to your public profile so You can receive credit to your contributions.
  • Limited Profile Information: Your email address and telephone number. This information will be shown to users You support using the Service so they can verify your identity.
  • Private Profile Information: Your password. This will only be viewable by You.

For Supporters: if You invite another user to support through Soluto’s Service, You will need to provide Soluto with the email addresses for any users You wish to support. For Supportees: your Supporter will invite You to the Soluto Service by providing your email address to Soluto. This is necessary for Soluto to send You an invitation to use the service.

If You sign up for any newsletters, emails, or if You respond to any surveys on the Site, You will need to provide Soluto with your email address so we can respond to You via email.

If You purchase any products or services from Soluto, You will provide Soluto or a designated third party payment processor with your payment details (such as your credit card number, billing address, etc.) in order for Soluto to complete the transaction with You.

Any Personal Information provided to Soluto will be collected, used and stored by Soluto in order to provide our Site, Software and Services to You.

III. How Soluto Collects and Uses Anonymous Information from Your PC

When You install and run Soluto’s Software on your PC, the Software collects, aggregates and transmits technical information about your PC to Soluto so Soluto can provide its Service to its users. Soluto uses this Anonymous Information:

  • To generate crowdsourced PC support recommendations, based on aggregated support actions performed by other Soluto users;
  • To create the PC Genome, a publicly editable database of hardware and software information collected from millions of Soluto users (the “PC Genome”);
  • To analyze real-world PC performance and compatibility using aggregated statistical PC information; and
  • To provide information regarding PC health and status to Supporters who are performing PC support actions through the Soluto Service.

This Anonymous Information may include: technical information regarding the hardware and software installed on your PC; PC performance, health, security and update status; technical data regarding PC crashes and user frustration events; information regarding the type of Internet connection, ISP name, country and city; information relating to the installation or uninstallation of hardware and software on the PC and processes running at boot; browser type and configuration; and information regarding the use of Soluto’s Software.

Soluto does not store your IP address or transmit any Personal Information from your computer. Soluto does not collect, transmit or store your browsing history; bookmarks; cookies; emails; or any other information regarding the content You create, view or share on your PC.

Anonymous Information from your PC will be collected by Soluto’s Software and transmitted for storage in the PC Genome. In the aggregate, this information will be available in statistical form for other users to view and edit. Soluto also reserves the right to use, share or provide aggregated or statistical Anonymous Information with third parties. Anonymous information will be shared between the Supporter and Supportee who have an active support relationship using the Soluto Service in order to provide support using the Service.

IV. Handling of Personal Information and Anonymous Information

Soluto implements technical and operational safeguards to maintain the integrity and privacy of your Personal and Anonymous Information. Your information can only be accessed within Soluto by authorized employees who need to have access to the data in order to be able to fulfill their given duties.

V. Miscellaneous

Cookies, Advertising and Other Tracking Technologies

Like most sites on the Internet, some portions of our Site and some of the emails we send utilize third-party “cookies" and other tracking technologies. A "cookie" is a small text file transferred to your device that may be used, for example, to collect information about Site activity and in case of registered profile, to save registration ID and login password for future logins to the Site. In addition, these tracking technologies may track your IP address or usage of our Site or emails.

Our Services may use a third party to present or serve advertisements that You may see on our Site. These third party ad servers may use cookies, web beacons, clear gifs or similar technologies to help present such advertisements, and to help measure and research the advertisements' effectiveness. The use of these technologies by these third party ad servers is subject to their own privacy policies and is not covered by our Privacy Policy.

Instant Messaging and Communications

Soluto may allow You to send messages to other users, either through Soluto’s Site, Software or Services. Soluto does not actively monitor or read the content of these messages, although Soluto may from time to time access these messages in order to improve the quality of our Site, Software and Services.

Third-Party Providers

Soluto does not rent, sell or share your Personal Information with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide You with products or services that You have requested. Soluto may use certain third party companies and individuals to help Soluto provide, analyze, and improve its Site, Software and Services (including but not limited to, billing service providers, user authentication, data storage, maintenance services, database management, web analytics, email providers, survey providers, and others). To the extent that Soluto exchanges information with these third parties, the information will be exchanged in accordance with the Terms of Use, Privacy Policies, and APIs of these third parties. In addition, to the extent that Soluto shares your information with the third parties, these third parties will be provided access to your information only for purposes of performing these tasks on Soluto's behalf.

Removal From Mailing Lists and Modification of Personal Information

You may easily remove yourself from our mailing list. Each email You will receive from us will contain clear instructions on how to remove yourself. In addition, Personal Information You provide under your profile can always be reviewed, updated, corrected or deleted by You and it is your responsibility to maintain such Personal Information accurately and completely at all times.

Links to Other Sites

Our Services may contain links to other sites. Other sites may also reference or link to our Site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such other sites.

Children's Privacy

Soluto’s Site, Software and Services are not designed or intended for children under the age of 13. In addition, Soluto’s Terms of Use prohibit users under the age of 13. Further, Soluto does not intend to collect Personal Information from anyone we know to be under 13 years of age.

Modification of Privacy Policy

Soluto reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time by providing such revised terms to You or by publishing the revised terms on Soluto’s Site. The revised Privacy Policy shall become effective within ten (10) days of such publishing or provision to You, whichever is the first to occur unless You expressly accept the revised terms earlier. The express acceptance by You, or Your continued use of any of Soluto’s Software or Services after the expiry of the notice period of ten (10) days, shall constitute Your acceptance to be bound by the terms and conditions of the revised Privacy Policy.

Change of Control or Ownership of the Company

In the event of a change in ownership of the company, acquisition, merger, bankruptcy, liquidation, or sale of assets, Soluto or any successor or third party entity may transfer or assign any Personal or Anonymous Information as part of such transaction. In that event, any such information will be subject to the Privacy Policy of the successor or third party entity.

Disclosure of Personal Information, When Required by Law

We reserve the right to disclose your information to third parties to the extent required if we have a good faith belief that disclosure of such information is required or reasonably necessary to: i) comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, ii) enforce our Terms of Use and/or End User License Agreement or any other license agreement of Soluto You have agreed to be bound by, including investigations of potential violations thereof, iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, or security issues, or iv) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Soluto, its users, yourself or the public. Soluto reserves the right to retain and use your information as necessary to comply with its legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Soluto's agreements.

Soluto’s Commitment to You

Soluto is committed to protecting your privacy. Protecting your privacy is an evolving area, and Soluto is constantly evolving to meet these demands. Furthermore, no method of Internet transmission or storage is perfect or impenetrable and Soluto cannot guarantee absolute security.

By using Soluto’s Site, Software or Services, You expressly agree that Soluto will not be liable for any third party action, misuse, abuse or infringement of data and information security.
